When I first came to the USA, I was struck just how different the food was here. Growing up in the UK, I had assumed that people in the US ate the same things as we did so when I was confronted with Tamales for the first time, or Grits (Which up until then had been something lorries spread on the roads when it was icy) I was visibly confused.
What foods had you never heard of before?
