Winchester Cathedral is one of the largest in Northern Europe, being started in 1079 by William The Conqueror's friend Walkelin, the first Norman Bishop of Winchester, the building was completed in 1532, just in time for Henry VIII and his takeover of the Catholic Church in England to create the new Church of England.
